SME Advisory

In Australia, 99% of employers are designated small to medium businesses. Often these businesses do not have dedicated to HR teams or managers who have expertise in managing chronically ill employees.

We offer readily accessible advisory services to empower the SME sector to make informed decisions and have sensitive conversations with their employees who are living with chronic illness.

If you're an SME, you can use our advisory services to help you:

  • clarify your rights and responsibilities,
  • conduct conversations with your employees that are sensitive, respectful, and not unnecessarily intrusive,
  • manage workplace health disclosures to ensure individual employee privacy is protected,
  • implement the most appropriate and cost-effective reasonable adjustments to support your staff and maintain business continuity,
  • manage communications with other staff members who's roles may be altered due to workflow changes, and
  • get connected to additional resources.

Standard Advisory Services

Why might SMEs need these services?

We often find that conversations about an individual's health can be challenging for both the employee and employer. Our advisory services can assist employers to approach conversations about chronic illness in a constructive way, and help achieve positive outcomes for all parties.

Do I need to make an appointment?

Yes. Send us a request via our enquiry form and provide a brief outline the nature of the problem. We'll get back to you with a possible time and our service fee.

How are your fees structured?

Our advisory services are charged in 30 minute increments. We find this to be the most cost-effective approach for SMEs. In some cases for larger organisations, we do offer our services on a retainer for a fixed monthly fee.

Are the services online only?

To minimise costs and maximise convenience, we usually conduct our advisory services over the telephone or online via the Zoom/Teams platforms.

Do you provide mediation services?

We do not provide mediation services where there has been a breakdown in communication between employer and employee. However, in some circumstances we find that it can be helpful to facilitate the conversation between parties when there is goodwill present but a degree of uncertainty about how best to proceed.

Do you provide legal advice?

We are not employment lawyers so we do not provide legal advice. Our main priority is to support you to have effective conversations with your employees who are living with chronic illness.

We celebrate the stories, culture and traditions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Elders. We also recognise that about 80% of the mortality gap between Indigenous and other Australians aged 35–74 years is due to chronic diseases.

Cultural Value is a proud queer and disability owned business. This doesn't make us better than anyone else. just equal.
